What Determines the Cost of Shed Demolition in Rhode Island?
Shed demolition is our specialty β we tear down sheds across Rhode Island every week. And the first question everyone asks is the same: βwhat's it going to cost?β The honest answer is that every shed is different, so every quote is different. But the things that move the number up or down are no secret. Here they are.
1. Size
A 6x8 garden shed and a 12x20 workshop are very different jobs. Bigger sheds mean more demo time and more debris on the truck β and since we price by the truckload, volume is the biggest factor in your quote.
2. Material
Wood and vinyl sheds come down fast. Metal sheds take a little more care. Anything with a shingled roof adds weight, and weight matters because disposal facilities charge by the ton. A concrete pad or footings are a separate conversation β tell us up front and we'll quote it honestly.
3. What's inside
Here's one that surprises people: you don't need to empty the shed first. We haul the contents along with the structure. A packed shed just means more truck space, so it's part of the quote β but it saves you a weekend of sorting through spider webs.
4. Access
Can we back the truck close to the shed, or are we carrying debris through a gate, around a pool, and up a hill? The farther the carry, the longer the job. Easy access keeps your price down. Tight access doesn't kill the deal β it just needs to be in the quote from the start, which is why photos help so much.
How to get an exact number
Text us two or three photos of the shed at 401-422-JUNK (5865) β one from the front, one from the side, and one showing the path to the street. Most sheds we can quote same day from photos alone. The number we give you covers demolition, loading, hauling, disposal, and sweep-up. It doesn't move once we start.
Why not DIY it?
You can absolutely tear down a shed yourself. But by the time you rent a dumpster, borrow a truck, pull rusty nails for a weekend, and make three dump runs with disposal fees, most people find the math β and the tetanus risk β favors making one phone call. We're usually in and out in a single visit, and the pad is broom-clean when we leave.
